Density and Water Absorption Coefficient of Sandcrete Blocks Produced with Waste Paper ash as Partial Replacement of Cement

چکیده
Abstract The literature is flooded with scientific information on most durability properties except water absorption coefficient of masonry units like sandcrete blocks. Also, while waste papers disposal a systemic problem due to ineffectiveness management system in developing countries, the price cement increase. This situation, ultimately, causes bane achievement low-cost housing development considering fact that blocks are predominantly used as walling elements for such undertakings. In this study, solid core were produced paper ash (WPA) utilized partial replacement at 5 % and 10 volumetric levels. Chemically, WPA was found show similarity terms SiO 2 , Al O 3 CaO contents. Density block samples determined. While density ranged from 1682 1872 kg/m varied 27.04 23.49 h 0.5 . Statistically, no significant difference revealed p < 0.05 between experimentally-measured coefficients those obtained using model developed prediction based samples. Thus, utilization described herein could help reduce cost procuring turn, enhance building construction. (showing dependence density), exposed moisture –prone environment be easily predicted.

Saw Dust Ash as Partial Replacement for Cement in the Production of Sandcrete Hollow Blocks
This study investigates the use of Saw Dust Ash (SDA) as partial replacement for ordinary Portland cement (OPC) in sandcrete blocks. Some units of sandcrete hollow blocks were produced by partially replacing the cement content with 5% to 25% by weight of SDA, using vibrating block moulding machine. Sandcrete blocks without SDA serve as the control. The blocks produced were tested to determine t...

متن کاملUtilization of waste glass as sand replacement in cement mortar
In this study, alkali silica reaction (ASR) expansion and strength characteristics of mortar containing waste glasses are analyzed in terms of waste glass content and glass color. Three different colors of waste glasses (white, green and brown) are replaced with sand at ratios of 10%, 30% and 100% by weight. The mixtures used in this study did not show a considerable ASR expansion. All batches ...
